Excursion to Choquequirao and Machu Picchu Inca citadel 8D/7N

Choquequirao in the Quechua language means Cradle of Gold, also known as Machu Picchu's sacred sister, is another alternative route to continue hearing the diversity of places in Cusco. This archaeological site consists of buildings and terraces on different levels which is surrounded by a great biodiversity which gives a touch of mystery.
The trek to Machu Picchu Choquequirao route is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary adventures that can be done; you will enjoy walking through beautiful countryside with stunning panoramic views of the Cordillera Vilcabamba. Choquequirao and Machu Picchu are the living testimony of the great Inca culture making our trip one of the best.

Itinerary

Day 1 Cusco – Cachora - Chiquisca

Pick up our passengers very early in the morning to go to the town of Cachora where it will be the start of our adventure in the course of our trip we will enjoy a unique variety of landscapes as well as a variety of picturesque villages, on our arrival we our breakfast and then begin our adventure, we will have a short break and have lunch in the field of Capulilloc then continue our way to our first camp, where we can observe Chiquisca diversity of flora and fruit grown in this area.

Day 2 Chiquisca - Choquequirao

After a good breakfast depart towards Choquequirao this time our road will be on the rise, which can be seen on our way to towns like Santa Rosa as well as flora and fauna, have lunch near the community of Marampata from where you can see a part of Choquequirao. We will continue our way to reaching our campsite Choquequirao an average of 5:00 in the afternoon where we will sleep in one of the Inca terraces from which we can observe a beautiful sunset.

Day 3 Choquequirao - Maizal

In the morning we will have tour the archaeological site of Choquequirao enjoying the explanation for about 2 hours. After our tour of Choquequirao continue our walk this time heading for the place called Cornfield through an area called Rio Blanco where we will taste our lunch on our way we will see diverse landscapes and some wild plants with healing properties continuing our way to reach our camp.

Day 4 Maizal - Yanama

After our breakfast we begin our walk, this day will pass through lush green places like mines that were abandoned 70 years ago. This place will have a short break and take our food, then follow our path and you'll notice how it changes our environment where nature shows us a completely different landscape, until we reach our camp where we rest and take our food.

Day 5 Yanama - Collpa

Early begin our trek towards Yanama highest point of our adventure (4600 m) this day will appreciate the change of scenery can also see some condors since this is the habitat of these animals, after our lunch walk to our camp where we can relax and watch the landscape around us.

Day 6 Collpa - La Playa

The hike on this day will be shorter than the above but with a beautiful view across the landscape, this day is declining path, through the Cattail River and from this point the flora and fauna are making their presence felt with a variety of orchids, begonias, bamboo, bromeliads, hummingbirds, etc.. The landscape is changing every day because we are falling more and more, the rivers are more plentiful and vegetation is more noticeable. During this day we will enjoy a waterfall where those who wish can take a refreshing dip also enjoy refreshing fruit such as passion, walk through some coffee and banana plantations, we arrive at our camp at mid-noon, lunch at the camp and have a free afternoon to relax.

Day 7 La Playa - Aguas Calientes

In the morning we start our walk to the town of Aguas Calientes, on our way we will see some archaeological remains which have a small tour, our journey continues to the hydroelectric where we will have lunch and take a short break to go our way towards the village of warm waters where you will arrive in the afternoon. This day rest in a hotel that offers the basic amenities.

Day 8 Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Early in the morning we will go to Machu Picchu to see the sunrise, then make our tour. The Machu Picchu guided tour lasts approximately 2 hours following this guidance will have a free time to explore the Citadel on our own.
In Machu Picchu we can go all the sectors that this city has, like agriculture, barns full of platforms and the Inca also visit the religious sector and its various temples dedicated to their most important deities, and the urban sector, with countless venues Incas.
After an extensive tour of the city of Machu Picchu, return to Aguas Calientes where we will have lunch respectively and by evening board the train back to Cusco.
